Atwood-Coffee notes that an 1851 City Directory lists a Waverley Line operated by Ward, Bolster & Jacacks, probably predecessor to the Sixth Avenue Lines. The route ran from 34th Street & 6th Avenue along 6th Avenue to 8th Street, Broadway and Whitehall Street to South Ferry, operating 20 stages.
