1965 A.V.A. Convention Tour Token

Issued for the 1965 American Vecturist Association Convention in New York City, this brass token had a reported mintage of 300 pieces. The token itself identifies the convention’s boat ride around Manhattan, while contemporary accounts in The Fare Box noted that these special convention tour tokens were required to obtain admission tickets for the ship. Today it survives as a collectible souvenir from an early organized gathering of transit token enthusiasts.
